Sometimes, living in New York can really feel like an uphill climb. Other times, it actually is one.

Beginning April 16, you’ll have a new (impressively affordable) venue to experience the latter when DUMBO Boulders opens under the Manhattan Bridge in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The bright blue walls of the new 7,800-square-foot outdoor climbing gym can already be seen on the Brooklyn waterfront. When it opens next week, the facility will be the largest outdoor bouldering gym in all of North America, and will be able to fit 250 climbers at any given time.

A day pass will cost a mere $9 which is $19 less that The Cliffs at Long Island (which is building the project) charges at their Long Island City location. On top of that, rental shoes and chalk will be free.

Those who are easily frightened by heights might want to think twice about an afternoon workout, however. The walls are short enough that there won’t be any harnesses at the facility—just a floor full of compacted rubber mulch to cushion those inevitable falls.
