New York City's giant mood ring, the Empire State Building, is constantly changing colors to signify various things. But what exactly do those colors mean? We're here to help decode the nightly light shows to keep you in the know, and helpfully provide you with some go-to cocktail chatter.

Here are the significant colors over the next two weeks:

November 9: Pink and white in honor of the GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards.

November 11: Red, white and blue in honor of Veterans' Day.

November 17: Purple in honor of March of Dimes and World Prematurity Day.

November 18: Red and green for the 2015 Radio City Christmas Spectacular’s Opening Night.

November 19: White & blue for North Shore Animal League America and “Get Your Rescue On” Gala.
