It's all in your head(phones) at Quiet Clubbing in the Garden
Bust a move without bursting your eardrums when you control the volume and style of music you're dancing to at this Quiet Clubbing event. Participants put on a special set of wireless headphones, choose from three different DJs—each plays a different genre like hip-hop or Top 40—and get to grooving. If you want to get to know that cutie you've been grinding with, just take off your headphones and start chatting.
Studio Square Events, 35-44 37th St, Queens, 10pm, $10, $5 online

Get jiggy with it at the I Love the '90s Show with the Fresh Kids of Bel-Air
Local revivalist crew The Fresh Kids of Bel-Air do the best covers of Ace of Base, Third Eye Blind and TLC you've heard since your school assembly talent show. Le Poisson Rouge's basement location is the perfect set up to roll with your homies—and don't leave your grunge gear and plaid behind.
Le Poisson Rouge, 158 Bleecker St, 11pm, $15, $20 at the door

Hit the Afropunk pre-party at the Afropunk Fancy Dress Ball
Before this week's epic Afropunk festivities unfold, you can get all dolled up and catch performances by the great and powerful Grace Jones, queer rapper Cakes da Killa, nightlife veteran Bill Coleman and more. Part of the proceeds goes to the Afropunk Global Initiative.
Commodore Barry Park, Navy St to N Elliott Pl between Flushing and Park Aves, Brooklyn, $80-$500
