Chat with Eat Pray Love author Elizabeth Gilbert
After covering midlife crises, world travel and marriage, the blockbuster memoirist takes on her own creative process in Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear. She sits down at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House to discuss her inspirations, writing process and insights.

Take it all off at the New York Burlesque Festival
For the 13th year of this world-renowned festival, over 120 burlesque artists will pull out the stops (and rip off their clothes) to showcase the finest the art form has to offer. This year's lineup of festivities includes decadent parties; circus, burlesque and boylesque performers; a bazaar where you can experiment with lingerie; and the Golden Pasties awards, where the most brazen queens are crowned. Tonight: The Teaser Party at the Bell House.
149 7th St, Brooklyn, 8pm, $15, $20 at the door

See the best in dance at Dance Now NYC
Dance Now celebrates its 20th season with a massive festival of short works by 50 dance makers of every stripe, many of them Dance Now veterans and all challenged to create a five-minute-long "choreographic gem" for the teeny stage at Joe's Pub. The very long lineup is a who's who and a who-will-be. Tonight, in a special encore performance, the best of the fest (chosen by the producers) return and perform alongside the great Brian Brooks and Nicholas Leichter.
Joe's Pub at the Public Theater, 425 Lafayette St, 7pm, $20-$30
