Jump into the Fall for Dance Festival
The super-affordable festival, kicking off today, offers a smorgasbord approach to dance-o-philes, so each evening features a tasting menu of international superstars and local favorites. This year, 20 companies and dancemakers take part, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the San Francisco Ballet, Dorrance Dance, Steven McRae, Miami Ballet, La Compagnie Hervé Koubi and even the great clown Bill Irwin, who premieres a collaboration with Tiler Peck and Damian Woetzel.
New York City Center, 131 W 55th St, 8pm, $15, through Oct 11

Get weird at Tropical Goth
Bring out those dark florals: Bossa Nova curator Chris Video hosts yet another rager at our favorite tropical-oasis dance club. Devil Disco will be providing the night's live set, while Luke Jenner (The Rapture) and Japanster star as guest DJs. Bossa Nova superstars and local tastemakers ADMIN, Marcus Webb, Clever Rebel, Kiddo Sincere and Chris Video will throw down their usual bangers on the decks as well.
Bossa Nova Civic Club, 1271 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn, 7pm, free
