Hear a delicious talk on Pastrami on Rye: An Overstuffed History of the Jewish Deli
Critic and anthropologist Ted Merwin explores the Jewish Deli in New York as a cultural institution, from its position as an interwar hub for immigrant Jewish communities, to becoming a symbol of an "authentic" New York City in movies like When Harry Met Sally and beyond.

Laugh and sing at Haunting Renditions Live
Eliot Glazer (Ilana's brother) follows up his well-observed Web series It Gets Betterish and appearances on Broad City with Haunting Renditions, in which he transforms fluffy pop hits into grand, orchestral affairs.

Rock out to Neon Indian and Tamaryn
Texas expat Alan Palomo hasn’t been gone, exactly—he calls Brooklyn home—but it has been four years since his last album as Neon Indian. Era Extraña fine-tuned the sun-warped synth-pop that helped Palomo break out with 2009’s Psychic Chasms alongside fellow chillwave—remember chillwave?!?—stars Washed Out and Toro y Moi. All three have turned out to have serious staying power, but Neon Indian’s new VEGA INTL. Night School, due out October 16, confirms Palomo’s gifts danceworthy, loose-limbed electrofunk. Come check out his CMJ show.
