Drink and read at Lit Crawl NYC
This gratis night combines two of New Yorkers’ favorite things—literature and booze—into one raucous fest in lower Manhattan. This year's edition transforms the Housing Works bookstore into an arena of not-so-bookish games, performances and drinking, with activities like Nerd Jeopardy, Literary Pictionary, Trivia Bingo, tarot readings and rock & roll from the Savage Detectives. Get down with authors like Mira Jacob, Rosie Schaap and Alex Gilvarry at this wild literati party.

See Iza Genzken's new solo exhibition
The hugely influential German artist returns for her first solo exhibition at Zwirner in eight years with 2- and 3-D assemblages. Most noticeable is a selection from Genzken’s “Schauspieler (Actors)” series, which she first introduced at her 2013 MoMA retrospective. Building on the Surrealist fascination with mannequins, Genzken has filled Zwirner’s garage space with a plethora of dummies—male and female; girl and boy—dressed in a veritable thrift store inventory of disassociated clothing articles, with the sort of fluorescent-colored mesh vests worn by traffic cops being especially prevalent.

Shop on the cheap(er) at the Elie Tahari sample sale
Standing in line for the Israeli designer’s sample sale is worth the wait, since most items are tagged less than $100. Make sure you grab the first Betsy distressed leather vest ($698, now $99) and floral Gwyneth Neoprene dress ($428, going for $99) you find—these trendy items will go first.
