One of the city’s most stunning Christmas trees is about flip the on switch tonight.

The Washington Square Tree Lighting officially takes places at 6pm, when the 45-foot spruce under the iconic arch will be illuminated for the first time this season. The tree will be lit every day this holiday season from 4pm and 1am.

To celebrate the event, attendees can head to the park to sing holiday songs along with the Rob Susman Brass Quartet. A certain someone may even be stopping by to lead the countdown to the big moment. It’s Santa. Santa’s gonna be there.

Later this month, you can also gather around the tree at 5pm on Christmas Eve to sing carols. Complimentary songbooks will be distributed to the festive crowd.
