Those betting on upcoming food trends in New York City don't need to look any further than the West Coast. From pitaya to poké, a number of Instagram-friendly Cali imports have gained cross-country star status over the past few years. Among them is the infamous sushi burrito which we first reported on when it appeared at Uma Temakeria

Now, the Wall Street Journal reports that San Francisco's O.G. sushi burrito rollers Sushirrito are about to debut their first New York location in the Flatiron District.

Set to open in mid-July, the Gotham outpost will hawk the same eight nori-wrapped creations as the original, including a Geisha's Kiss ($12; yellowfin tuna, piquillo peppers, green-leaf lettuce) and the Sumo Crunch ($10.50; shrimp tempura, surimi crab, shaved cabbage).

Despite some likely competition from existing spots like Pokéworks, the company seems pretty certain about the success of their model: a second location has already been slated for the Bryant Park area.
