Here's some quick and dirty New York City herstory for you: There are 22 statues of historical figures throughout Central Park. Zero of them are women (Alice in Wonderland doesn't count).

But hopefully that will change in the very near future. The Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony Statue Fund Inc. has raised about $170,000 of the $400,000-$600,000 needed to erect a monument in the park dedicated to suffragettes Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, according to DNAinfo. It will be placed on the southwest corner of the West 77th Street entrance.

The funds are made entirely of private donations, and you can donate here to help the monument become a reality. Four artists are currently creating models to be shown at the New-York Historical Society, after which a jury will select the winner, whose model will by fully built once fundings are in place. Even the Girl Scouts have gotten involved: Troop 3484 will donate profits fro their cookie sales to the fund.

Hey, dudes? I think you can fit a few women on those 800+ acres of greenery.
