We just got a brand-new holiday to brighten up the most depressing week of the year.

According to the David Bowie Facebook Page, Acting Commissioner Luis Castro of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment will read a proclamation after the final curtain call of Lazarus tonight, proclaiming January 20, 2016 to officially be David Bowie Day in New York. (September 23, 2014 was officially David Bowie Day in Chicago.) Accepting the proclamation will be New York Theatre Workshop Managing Director Jeremy Blocker.

Lazarus, currently playing at New York Theater Workshop was co-written by Bowie and Enda Walsh.
