Vespa taxi service launches in New York

Motoconcho is a new app for Apple and Android devices that works similarly to car sharing apps like Uber and Lyft. Except, instead of a black car stopping to pick you up, you get whisked away on a moped like the heroine in a Disney Channel movie. They even provide you with a helmet.

Dustin Rodriguez, the entrepreneur behind the service, was inspired by the Vespa taxis in the Dominican Republic and he’s keeping the prices pretty low. The fare is a mere $1.05 per mile/$.20 per minute fare, half the price of a taxi.

But even though the Motoconcho app is still live, Rodriguez is currently encountering some pushback from city officials. So if you really want to have that Roman Holiday moment on Fifth Avenue, you might want to give it a try this weekend.

Just remember to hold on tight!
