Wands at the ready: PotterCon is coming to NYC next month

Get your robes out and brush up on your spells, because it's almost time for PotterCon!

That's right, the annual gathering of Harry Potter megafans (Pottheads) and alumni of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is back at Irving Plaza on Saturday, August 6. Adult wizards (yep, it's 21+) can gather for a day of butterbeer and magical activities. Be brave and throw your name into the Goblet of Fire for a chance to be sorted into a house onstage by the Sorting Hat (with some help from first-years and Dumbledore). Enter Madam Malkin's Robes For All Occasions Fashion Show (the costume contest) for $5 and try to top last year's winner, Luna Lovegood wearing a lion hat. Try your hand at trivia with teams of six, but no enchanted quills allowed! Each event you participate in helps you gain points for your house—stay till the end to find out who wins the House Cup! (But let's be real, it's always Gryffindor.)
