As construction continues at #OneVanderbilt, the long-hidden western facade of @grandcentralnyc reveals itself.

If you've passed by Grand Central Stadium in the last year, you may have noticed the NYC Skyline progressively shrinking. One Vanderbilt, the goliath new office tower at Vanderbilt Ave between 42nd and 43rd Sts, began demolishing an entire city block one year ago to clear room for construction. Until the 65-story marvel becomes an iconic NYC building when it opens in 2020, we can enjoy this time-lapse video of its genesis, which condenses a year of demolition into 42 seconds.

Watching an entire city block get stripped down floor by floor is reminiscent of that scene in The Mummy when Imhotep eats a hot American dude like a termite would, leaving only a skeleton behind. I'm sure that's what the One Vanderbilt developers had in mind when they posted the video.
