Watch this man race an MTA train between stops—and win

Hopping off of the New York subway and racing it between stops is an age-old pastime. Many overzealous MTA riders regard the feat as a rite of passage. It's a challenge that's incredibly hard to accomplish, and requires a great deal of planning as to which stops one must run between and which car on a given train provide the biggest head start.

But for Matthew Ahn, the New York-based lawyer who broke the record for the fastest time to travel through all of the city's subway stations last year, racing a train between stops is a walk in the park. In the video above, he records himself successfully getting off of a 2 or 3 train at the Chambers Street stop, sprinting up the stairs, around the corner, down into the Park Place station and back onto the same car.

Last July, Ahn hit all 469 MTA subway station in a cool 21 hours, 28 minutes and 14 seconds, breaking his previous record that was nulled after the Hudson Yards stop opened up in 2015. After the Second Avenue Subway opened at the start of 2017, the total number of stations in the city increased to 472, which again nulled Ahn's record.

It's unclear whether or not he'll try and break the record again, but it's good to see that he's sharpening his subway ninja skills in the meantime.
