Chang-rae Lee

After winning the PEN/Faulkner for detective novel Native Speaker, Lee has written elegantly about assimilation and alienation among emigrants from East Asia and aging Long Islanders. Lee's new The Surrendered is the story of Korean War refugees and their attempts to piece together their lives years after the conflict.
