David Gordon: Mystery Girl

The new hardboiled tale from Gordon (The Serialist) is Mystery Girl, which finds sad part-time dick Sam Kornberg embroiled in a case that involves Satanists, underground film and, of course, murder. In addition to the standard tropes, Gordon gives the story a twist, as Sam mourns for his absent wife.
