Each year, the strip of W 135th St between Malcolm X and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvds is transformed into a multidialogue symposium; this year’s theme focuses on “Women in Word and Power.” Highlights include ongoing readings in the Schomburg Center’s courtyard (noon–5:15pm), a conversation between Terry McMillan and Bernice McFadden on the future of African-American fiction (1:30–2:45pm), and a tribute to poet, playwright and activist Sonia Sanchez (3–5pm).
