The late author, who wrote the Lower East Side bildungsroman Call It Sleep, published in 1934, left behind nearly 2,000 pages of another novel, which have been whittled down into a just-published work called An American Type. Discussing the novel at this event will be Willing Davidson, the book’s editor and fiction editor at The New Yorker; Robert Weil, executive editor at Norton Fiction; and others.
