The author of the biography Nureyev tells the story of the 19th-century Parisian courtesan Marie Duplessis in The Girl Who Loved Camellias. Though she died of tuberculosis at 23, Duplessis was a celebrated woman, who charmed the likes of Alexandre Dumas and Franz Liszt.
