Having experienced the "June Fourth Incident" at Tiananmen Square, Liao wrote an incendiary poem, "Massacre," and was arrested shortly thereafter. The writer has remained active since fleeing China in 2011, and arrives to talk (through interpreter Wenguang Huang) about his prison memoir, For a Song and a Hundred Songs.
