Though she grew up in New York City, in environments that convinced her she was (at varying times) a WASP and a Jew, Najla Said has a Lebanese mother and a Palestinian father. Looking for Palestine tells the story of Said's upbringing and the ways in which she denied, and eventually embraced, her heritage.
