Much more than a fantasy author, Gaiman creates stories—be they novels, graphic novels, scripts or short works—that are appealingly dark and clever, and that reach for a level of myth that most modern writers wouldn't even consider. His latest novel, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, is about a seven-year-old who discovers a secret, supernatural world that alters his perceptions of his own.
