Turkish novelist and Nobel Prize winner Pamuk—best known in the states for The White Castle, My Name Is Red and Snow—publishes an early tale, Silent House, for the first time in English. The story, which takes place in a former fishing village near Istanbul, is a family drama that reflects the turmoil of the nation's 1980 military coup.
