Alain Lefèvre with the Orchestra of St. Luke's

Canadian pianist Alain Lefèvre has recently emerged as a fervent champion for his late countryman André Mathieu, a virtuoso keyboardist and composer from Quebec who died in 1968. Renowned in his day but painfully short-lived, Mathieu left behind four concertos, two of which (Nos. 2 and 4) Lefèvre performs with the Orchestra of St. Luke's and conductor JoAnn Falletta to mark the 70th anniversary of Mathieu's last Carnegie Hall performance. Mozart's Symphony No. 36 ("Linz") sets the stage.
