The Bard Music Festival never fails to assemble an outstanding roster of scholars and musicians for an in-depth examination of a specific composer's life and times, and this year's offering is particularly timely: The focus is on Stravinsky, whose seminal ballet The Rite of Spring has been much discussed and performed during this, its centenary year. Bard president Leon Botstein conducts the American Symphony Orchestra throughout the fest, which is stocked as ever with superb soloists and chamber groups.
