London composer-performer Bishi draws on both Western and Hindustani classical styles, not to mention a broad swath of vocal traditions ranging from Bulgarian throat singing to Meredith Monk's extended techniques. For this rare New York appearance, she presents a 70-minute one-woman show derived from her 2012 album, Albion Voice—a show that has been seen, in previous iterations, at London's Tate Modern and Paris's Centre Pompidou. The immersive, video-enabled staging is directed by Matthew Hardern.
