Poised on the brink of what should be a promising future with dynamic new music director Andris Nelsons, the venerable BSO arrives with a venerable guest maestro, Bernard Haitink, for a thoroughly venerable mix of Purcell's Funeral Music for Queen Mary, Schumann's Piano Concerto (with Murray Perahia at the keys) and Brahms's Symphony No. 4 tonight. The Feb 12 program is a bit more pungent, bringing aboard Susan Graham and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus for Ravel's Alborada del gracioso, Shéhérzade and Daphnis et Chloé.
