Launched in 1998 by composer Victoria Bond, this new-music series returns to Symphony Space, featuring the intrepid Cygnus Ensemble performing the world premiere of Laura Kaminsky's Homage to Havel—an ode to Czech artist, dissident and eventual president Václav—and Andrew Waggoner's sadness-lifting Souffrir/symphonier. The ensemble also performs Three Fragments of Ibn Khafajah, a set of Arabic love poems by Mohammed Fairouz, as well as the world premiere of Frank Brickle's erotic troubadour song Estat ai en greu cossirier.
