Either/Or Spring Festival 2014

Exploring all corners of the avant-garde, the local new-music collective gathers its full forces for its ninth annual spring fest. On June 26, the group descends on Whitebox Art Center to present theatrically minded pieces by Stockhausen, Kagel, Druckman, Alvin Lucier and others. June 27, also at Whitebox, brings an album-release concert devoted to a new CD by group codirector Richard Carrick. On June 29, the festival closes in appropriately grand fashion, over at Issue Project Room, with a complete performance of a real masterwork: Feldman's For Philip Guston—a more-than-four-hour timbral meditation for piano, percussion and flute.
