Since appointing dynamic maestro Vladimir Jurowski as its principal conductor in 2006, the London Philharmonic Orchestra has notched some of its hottest notices in recent memory. For its one-night Carnegie engagement, it's set up an intense program that includes Shostakovich's tragic Symphony No. 8 and Magnus Lindberg's tartly sensual Chorale.
