While Alan Gilbert is off to prepare for his forthcoming guest stint with the Berlin Philharmonic, conductor Leonard Slatkin guests with the hometown orchestra in this stretch of subscription concerts. On this week's bill are Copland's El Salón Mexico, Ravel's Bolero and Gaspard de la nuit (the latter orchestrated by Constant), plus the New York premiere of Christopher Rouse's Flute Concerto (in which Robert Langevin is the soloist). Those with the morning of Oct 30 to themselves should consider the $20 open rehearsal.
