Even more ambitious than the all-Hitchcock event that opened the Phil's new film-music series, this second program presents a complete screening of Stanley Kubrick's visionary 2001: A Space Odyssey, with Alan Gilbert conducting the selections by Johann Strauss Jr., Richard Strauss, Khachaturian and Ligeti that enhanced the film's atmosphere so uncannily.
