Bard College's SummerScape series extends its recent, welcome habit of staging an opera related to the year's Bard Music Festival, prior to its arrival next month. This year's festival covers Stravinsky, thus a Russian offering: Sergei Taneyev's Oresteia, an 1895 work based on Aeschylus and presented in its U.S. stage premiere. Thaddeus Strassberger directs the production, and Leon Botstein conducts the American Symphony Orchestra.
