With memories still fresh of the Met's fall staging of The Tempest, Thomas Adès's moody Shakespearean opus, City Opera opens its season with a new production of Adès's notorious debut opera, inspired by a real-life sex scandal among English nobles in the early 1960s. Staged by Jay Scheib, the production includes nudity and sexual situations, not surprising for a piece that includes opera's most famous blow job—parental discretion is strongly urged.
