The Met revives its fantastical William Kentridge production of Shostakovich's bracing burst of youthful political cynicism and lacerating satire. Valery Gergiev is the conductor, and Paulo Szot returns in the central role of Kovalyov. (Pavel Smelkov takes over as conductor from Oct 17 onward.)
