Wind-ensemble music is enjoying a renaissance lately, as prominent composers are drawn increasingly to a genre that insures bountiful rehearsal time and multiple performances. Here one of the nation's foremost university bands offers the world premiere of In the Shadow of No Towers, a composition by Mohammed Fairouz inspired by Art Spiegelman's graphic novel responding to the September 11 attacks. Proceeds from the concert, which also includes an arrangement of Philip Glass's Concerto Fantasy for Two Timpanists and Orchestra, will benefit the 9/11 Memorial.
