Dig Deeper: Bobby Patterson

Dusty-fingered record freaks Mr. Robinson and DJ Honky are back with their night devoted to vintage funk and soul. This month’s edition sees the pair bringing in a fabled Lone Star State rhythm and blues performer—a onetime Ike and Tina Turner guitarist (at age 16!) whose storied career includes writing for the likes of Fontella Bass, serving as a radio DJ (you can still hear him on the Dallas airwaves) and scoring a hit with his "T.C.B. or T.Y.A." in 1969. He'll be backed by the Solid Set, with vocal-harmony quintet Select Blendz opening up.
