Donuts Are Forever 8

This past February 10 marked a full eight years since Detroit beatmaker James “J Dilla” Yancey shuffled off this mortal coil. Tonight’s dance party, Donuts Are Forever 8, named after the hip-hop visionary’s celebrated posthumous album, celebrates the great music that he left behind. Fresh Prince collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff tops the lineup, which includes decksmiths Good Reverend Dr. J, DJ Prince, DJ Still Life, Sixth Sense and DJ Parler. Brooklyn MC Torae hosts, and proceeds go to the Donuts Are Forever Scholarship Fund, which supports music education.
