[title]We’vegot a double dose of good news for you today. First—and just in time for the warming weather— Jules Kim and Katie Longmyer’s early-starting soiree, Select Summer Fridays, returns to the Le Bain roof deck on Friday, May 24. Second, the summer series is kicking things off with a excellent guest: Emika, whose album, Dva, is about to drop on the Ninja Tune label. Interestingly, the LP’s executive producer is Hank Shocklee, who (among his many claims to fame) was the studio whiz behind many of Public Enemy’s groundbreaking releases—and while Dva has none of the militant hip-hop bombast of, say, “Rebel Without a Pause,” the album does show a flair for both the dramatic and the experimental. It’s a shimmering, spine-tingling, self-assured release, so we’d advise sneaking out of work early this Friday to catch her in person.
