Through the ’80s and into the early ’90s, Latin freestyle, the breakdance-friendly offshoot of electro that made its way from the streets to the clubs (notably, the Funhouse) and, finally, the pop charts and Dance Party USA, was pretty much inescapable in NYC. And who would want to escape it? It was some of the most vibrant and fun music around. Tonight you can relive those halcyon days, with one of the sound's stars, Safire ("Let Me Be the One," "Boy, I've Been Told," et al.), on the mike. The party's DJs are Phil Pagan and Steve Tek.
