Time Out says

Mark Kamins, the fabled DJ of the iconic ’80s club Danceteria who recently passed away, was much more than a guy who slapped records on a turntable—he was a force who worked to define that period's after-dark culture and helped make it one of the most amazing clubland epochs ever. (We won't even get into all that discovering-Madonna stuff.) This tribute party looks to be mind-blowing, not least because the long-missing-in-action No Wave–era dance band Konk will be performing live for the first time since 1986. Also performing: Coati Mundi, John Robie, Johnny Dynell (Kamins produced his "Jam Hot" in ’83) and Nomi Ruiz, all backed by the MK Pow Wow Band. The DJ lineup is staggeringly good as well: Jellybean Benitez, the Haçienda's Mike Pickering, Minimal Wave's Veronica Vasicka, Justin Strauss, Murray Elias, Kamins's Danceteria cohort Walter Nick Durkacz and the Mudd Club's Ivan Ivan are just a small sampling of those on hand. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Mark Kamins Scholarship Award in Electronic Music.
