Props: Tony Allen with Amp Fiddler + DJs Rich Medina and Akalepse

Back in the ’70s, drummer Tony Allen helped his boss Fela Kuti carve the sound of Afrobeat in the famed band Africa ’70, for which Allen served as music director. Allen is still a vital force, in Afrobeat and beyond, and tonight he's joining forces with Detroit funk and soul soldier Amp Fiddler for a live set. DJs Rich Medina and Akalepse spin the pre- and postset tunes.
