Through the ’80s and into the early ’90s, Latin freestyle, the break-dance–friendly offshoot of electro that made its way from the streets to the clubs (notably, the Funhouse) and, finally, the pop charts and Dance Party USA, was pretty much inescapable in NYC. And who would want to escape it? It was some of the most vibrant and fun music around. Tonight you can relive those halcyon days, with two of the sound's stars—Safire ("Let Me be the One," "Boy, I've Been Told") and Lisette Melendez ("Together Forever")—taking the stage; we can't wait.
