How is it that Turntables on the Hudson, 15 years since it began packing the Frying Pan and its adjacent pier with dance-happy party people, is still one of the best things going in NYC? That’s an easy one—it’s because of the great, Afro- and Latin-tinged music that TOTH’s Nickodemus and its cohorts play. For the fiesta’s 15th anniversary on Saturday, June 15, the crew—which featured Tru Thoughts recording artist Quantic, Que Bajo's Uproot Andy and Geko Jones, TOTH regulars Cato and Busquelo, and Nickodemus’s original coresident Mariano—headed upriver to Inwood’s La Marina for a day-into-night affair. And needless to say, the vibe was as sky-high as ever.
