Zeitgeist: Jamie xx + John Talabot

The new Verboten club's Zeitgeist throwdown is back with what should be a stunner of a night, musically speaking. Barcelona's Oriol Riverola, better known as John Talabot, broke through a few years back with a series of shadowy, slow-burning and utterly gorgeous cuts (notably "Matilda's Dream" and "Sunshine"); he continued that string of successes with the release of last year's Fin. Jamie xx is, of course, from the xx; through a handful of singles and remixes, his DJ sets, and most of all 2012's We're New Here collaboration with the late Gil Scott-Heron, he's proved that he knows his way around a skewed electronic rhythm.
