Allora & Calzadilla

Through Jan 10. Performances take place hourly beginning at 11:30am. For the museum's Performance Exhibition Series, the artists Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla present Stop, Repair, Prepare: Variations on Ode to Joy for a Prepared Piano (2008). In the work, the artists cut a hole in the center of a grand piano and placed it on wheels. The pianist stands in the hole and plays the fourth movement of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (known as “Ode to Joy”) while leaning over the keyboard and moving throughout the space. The performance takes place in the museum's atrium.
