Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

The Ailey company returns to BAM with a two-week performance and two programs ("Ailey Spirit" and "By Popular Demand"). In "Ailey Spirit," the special attraction is the revival of Ailey's 1971 Mary Lou's Mass, set to music by Mary Lou Williams (the program also includes Ronald K. Brown's fantastic Dancing Spirit and Ailey's Revelations). "By Popular Demand" features Matthew Rushing's Uptown, as well as Revelations and excerpts from Grace, North Star, In/Side and Bad Blood.
