Camille A. Brown & Dancers: ink

The first two parts of Camille A. Brown's Trilogy series, Mr. TOL E. RAncE and Black Girl—Linguistic Play, returned to the Joyce in late October. Now she and her company bring their showtime to the Apollo for the final chapter of the series: 2019's ink, which mixes jazz, tap, hip-hop, African, modern and social dance vocabularies to honor the indelible contributions of what Brown calls the “real life superheroes who paved the way for us to fly and 'be fly.'" Live music in a range of styles helps spread the jam.
