Emily Johnson/Catalyst: Being Future Being

Emily Johnson draws on Indigenous energies in a new work for five dancers that explores notions of creativity, ancestry and community. The design team includes members of multiple Indigenous groups—whose contributions include costumes, masks and quilts—and the piece is set to original music by 2022 Pulitzer Prize winner Raven Chacon. A postshow conversation with Lenape matriarchs follows the performance on October 21.
